CNC Lathe Operator

Position Summary

Sets up and operates manual or computer-numerically-controlled (CNC) horizontal lathe to perform machining, operations, such as turning, boring, facing, and threading parts. Reads blueprints and drawings to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up and operating requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Loads/ mounts materials into lathe manually or using a hoist/crane;
  • Selects and installs cutting tools according to set up requirements;
  • Removes and replaces dull cutting tools and attaches tools and work pieces to the lathe.
  • Download control programs into individual machines;
  • Observes numerical displays on control panel and compares with blueprint data to verify dimensional adjustments and speeds of machining cuts;
  • Adjust machine settings and controls as necessary when problems arise;
  • Calculate the amount of material to be loaded into the machine and make adjustments to the operating speed based on vibrations and sounds that may indicate a malfunction;
  • Inspects fabricated part to ensure conformance to specifications using micrometers and precision dial gauges;
  • Perform test operations to guarantee machine properly creates the precise part;

Experience, Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years related work experience
  • Post Secondary Diploma in skilled trade/Necessary certifications

Position Summary

Serves customers by installing, servicing and maintaining Eagle manufactured presses.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, coordinate, and execute all field service including start-ups, trouble-shooting, inspections, repairs, retrofits and preventative maintenance on Eagle Presses.
  • Assist and support in house production including assembly and machine tool maintenance and repair.
  • Service existing accounts by analyzing work orders, investigating complaints, conducting tests and resolving problems.
  • Submit trip reports and expenses to the Accounting department for processing.
  • Provide start-up, operating and maintenance training for customer.
  • Train and support new service technicians.
  • Travel anywhere in North America and Mexico as required.
  • Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs and records.
  • Maintains rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions and suggesting improved methods and techniques.
  • Provide start up and commissioning at customer site

Experience, Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Completion of high school.
  • Completion of further education in a Technical Field.
  • Completion of on-the-job training.

Position Summary

Assemble, service, fabricate and repair equipment as directed by management.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand drawings.
  • Build assemblies and sub-assemblies as per design, following required standards.
  • Material handling w/ overhead cranes, lift trucks, transfer carts or other means of transport.
  • Use hand tools and measuring instruments to specified clearances and tolerances.
  • Tests and inspect assemblies and subassemblies to ensure proper fit, function and operation to the intended design requirements.

  • Modifying existing press manual and develop into a comprehensive manual for press controls and operation.
  • Development of a comprehensive set of dynamic checks for each system on the press.
  • Reviewing of electrical installations to ensure all purchased options are installed and functioning properly.
  • Participate in buyoff activities at customer facilities.
  • Providing customers with start-up, operating and maintenance training.
  • Maintaining excellent rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions and suggesting improved methods and techniques in a timely manner.
  • Development of a modular (seed) electrical controls package for a servo press including electrical drawings, motion control, PLC Hardware and Software, HMI, and manuals.
  • Design and implement system upgrades/retrofits for the service department.
  • Travel in North America and Mexico as required.
  • Documenting service and installation activities by completing forms, reports, logs and records in a timely manner.
  • Analyzing alternative technologies and make recommendations with regards to system strategies, control systems and communication options.
  • Project management within cost and time constraints.
  • Procuring equipment.
  • Hiring and directing sub contractors to build controls package(s).
  • Provide warranty and service support for troubleshooting.
  • Working with regulatory authorities to provide an approved system.
  • Uphold all employment standards, policies and procedures.
  • Accepting responsibility and a level of accountability commensurate with the position.
  • Perform any other related duties, as required by management and/or the executive.
